Odalisca GF

1998 Pure Spanish Andalusian Mare

Born in 1998, Odalisca GF comes from some of the finest bloodlines in the Andalusian breed. Her father Indiano XVIII is legendary. Three times Champion of Champions in Spain, Champion of Champions of Mexico – he is one of the most important PRE Andalusians of our generation.

On her dam’s side, Odalisca’s relatives include Guarapo (her maternal grandsire) and Genil (Champion of Champions in Spain and Mexico).

Odalisca’s show career began in 2005, when she dazzled folks in the Pacific Northwest by sweeping show after show and earning the Pacific Rim High Point Purebred Andalusian Horse of the Year honors. At the IALHA National Championships that year, she was named the Reserve National Champion Spanish Senior Mare, while at the Canadian National Show she has won National Champion or Reserve National Champion in halter each year she’s been shown as well as English Pleasure Champion. In 2012, Odalisca returned to the show ring with a vengeance, capturing the Canadian National Champion Senior Mare and Canadian National Champion English Pleasure titles and the IALHA National Champion Saddle Seat Open title, as well as earning a Top Five in the IALHA National Championships Working Equitation, Speed Phase, in a very competitive field of 13.

Odalisca was bred by Gremlan Farms in Bakersfield, California and started by legendary horse trainer Vaughan Smith. She has incredible natural action and is one of the most athletic horses I have ever known. In 2011, Odalisca began her training in Working Equitation, a discipline for which she appears to be incredibly well suited.

Odalisca’s legacy lives on in her offspring. We will forever be grateful to Lanys and Graham Kaye-Eddie, her breeders, for the opportunity to share two and a half decades with this amazing Spanish treasure.
